Derek Lichti is Professor in the Department of Geomatics Engineering at the University of Calgary, which he joined in 2008. He served as Head of the Department for the period 2013-2018. Following the completion of his PhD in 1999, he worked as an academic at Curtin University in Perth, Australia, until 2007. His research program focuses on imaging metrology, which is concerned with precision 3D reality capture from imaging sensors, principally terrestrial laser scanners and digital cameras. Some of his research projects include documentation of at-risk cultural heritage sites, as-built modelling of industrial environments, wear and damage assessment in structures and industrial machinery, and dimensional control.

He is currently a Director of the Canadian Remote Sensing Society / Société canadienne de télédétection (CRSS-SCT) and a member of the Council of the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS). He has served the ISPRS in a number of capacities over the past two decades. This includes two terms (2004-2008; 2008-2012) as Chair of the ISPRS Working Group on Terrestrial Laser Scanning. Between 2013 and 2020, he served as Editor-in-Chief of the ISPRS Journal of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing. He is currently ISPRS Congress Director, responsible for organization of the 2026 ISPRS Congress in Toronto.

Jacky C. K. Chow, P.Eng., is a diagnostic radiologist with Alberta Health Services and an Adjunct Associate Professor in Geomatics Engineering at the University of Calgary. He completed his BSc (2009) and PhD (2014) in geomatics engineering at the University of Calgary, the latter under Derek Lichti and William Teskey. He then held postdoctoral fellowships in the Netherlands and Sweden on inertial human-motion tracking, earned an MBA from Aston University (2017), and worked as a sensor-fusion engineer at Leica Geosystems developing laser-guided autonomous drones, before returning to the University of Calgary to complete an MD (2020) and a diagnostic-imaging residency. His work bridges geomatics and medicine, spanning sensor fusion and error modelling, photogrammetry, SLAM, inertial motion capture, and machine learning for biomedical and radiological imaging. He is the founder of Vusion Technologies and a former NSERC, Alberta Innovates, Killam, and Marie Skłodowska-Curie scholar.
Dr. Ivan Detchev is an Associate Professor (Teaching) in Geomatics Engineering at the University of Calgary, where he also serves as Associate Head (Undergraduate). He earned his BScE in geomatics engineering from the University of New Brunswick (2007) and his MSc (2010) and PhD (2016) in digital imaging systems from the University of Calgary, with graduate research in digital photogrammetry and optical metrology for biomedical and civil engineering, including 3D reconstruction of scoliotic torsos and close-range photogrammetry for fine-scale infrastructure monitoring. His technical work spans multi-camera system calibration and structural deformation monitoring, while as an instructor his focus has shifted toward engineering education, including active learning and threshold concepts in geomatics. He is a recipient of Schulich's 2024 Undergraduate Teaching Excellence and Training Excellence Awards and contributes to geomatics education and outreach internationally through the ISPRS Student Consortium and a working group on promoting the profession.

Akshay Bharadwaj is a robotics and SLAM researcher with roughly 8 years of combined research and production experience in autonomous perception systems. He holds a PhD from the University of Calgary, where his research focused on neural implicit SLAM with IMU-assisted odometry, and an MS from Ohio University's Avionics Engineering Center, where he developed custom multirotor UAV platforms. At LocusLabs Inc., he deployed 3D mapping and localization systems across 180+ airports worldwide, and his work spans LiDAR-inertial SLAM, visual-inertial odometry, and sensor fusion. He holds a U.S. patent and has co-authored peer-reviewed publications at ION and IEEE/ION PLANS.

Holds a master's degree in civil engineering with a concentration in BIM, and is focused on research and development in mobile mapping, indoor spatial data acquisition, computer vision, and applications of Gaussian Splatting. He is particularly interested in developing accessible, smartphone-based solutions for accurate 3D mapping and digital-twin generation. Current research direction: "LiDAR-Constrained Gaussian Splatting for reconstruction of HBIM and BIM 3D models."

Julian grew up in Calgary and loves working with new technologies and the outdoors. He completed his undergraduate degree in Geomatics Engineering at the University of Calgary with a minor in energy and environment. His research interests are in capture-system development, both hardware configuration and software implementation. His thesis develops an automated, non-invasive pipeline that pairs a multi-camera optical setup with Gaussian Splatting to measure reindeer antlers, achieving 3.4 to 3.7 mm mean cloud-to-cloud accuracy against reference laser scans; the rig is now deployed for multi-season field collection supporting biodiversity, environmental monitoring, and regenerative-medicine research.
Srijan Thapa is a graduate student in Geomatics Engineering at the University of Calgary and a member of Dr. Derek Lichti's research group, co-supervised by Dr. Koren E. Roach. He completed his Bachelor of Engineering in Geomatics Engineering from Kathmandu University, Nepal, in Spring 2023. His research focuses on dual fluoroscopy systems, including system calibration, 3D motion tracking, and the application of imaging technologies to musculoskeletal biomechanics and osteoarthritis research.
Jackson Cooper is an MSc student in geomatics engineering at the University of Calgary, working in Prof. Derek Lichti's Multimodal Spatial Imaging Lab on medical image synthesis and photogrammetric measurement. His current thesis project, MedFlow, uses rectified-flow generative models to synthesize pseudo-PET images from CT, building on his earlier first-author work on self-calibrating bundle adjustment for fluoroscopic distortion correction (Diagnostics, 2024). He brings a strong geomatics foundation in estimation theory, photogrammetry, and sensor calibration, with broader interests in 3D reconstruction, neural rendering (Gaussian splatting), and high-performance GPU computing, and has previously worked at the Canadian Space Agency on satellite-imagery pipelines.
